Managing Stress in Business, People First Mentality, and Men's Mental Health
By Wasyl Kobylanski
CEO & President, Solution Services Inc.
Running a business like this one, with all its moving parts, high expectations, and real people… it can be a lot. And for me, the most important thing I’ve learned is that no matter how big we get or how much pressure we’re under, it’s always going to come back to one thing: people.
People are at the heart of this company. They’re not just numbers, or job titles, or tools to get things done. They’re human, and they need to be treated with dignity, care, and respect. That mindset doesn’t just lower stress; it changes how you lead.
I’ve seen it work. When your team knows you genuinely care about their well-being, when they know they can come to you, not just as an employee but as a person, that’s when everything shifts. You’re not managing problems. You’re supporting people. And that’s where real culture begins.

Staying Grounded When Everyone Needs You
There’s a myth that CEOs are supposed to be machines. But I’m not a machine. I’m a man, with a business, a family, a life. I’ve got people counting on me every single day, and the truth is: that weight can get heavy.
Time is the biggest pressure. Everyone needs a piece of it. There are calls, meetings, events, problems to solve, and it never stops. So the only way I’ve learned to manage that kind of demand is to stay present. Grounded.
You’ve got to learn to stop the mental scroll of what’s next, and just be where you are. Whether it’s a conversation with a crew member or five minutes with someone at a company BBQ, that moment deserves your full presence. That’s what leadership really is.

When You See the Stress in Others
There are moments when I can feel the pressure rising in the room. We run hard at Solution Services, it’s part of what makes us great. But I’ve learned to look for the signs: a bit more tension, shorter words, heavier energy. When I see that, I try to meet it with calm.
Good leaders know when to step in and steady the waters. Sometimes it’s just a hand on the shoulder, a quick word, a reminder that we’re doing the best we can. Because here’s the truth: we are doing our best. Every single person here shows up with everything they’ve got. And when we lead with that shared intention, the stress gets a little lighter

My Own Turning Point
I’ll be honest, there were years I didn’t have it figured out. I was burning the candle at both ends, go, go, go, constantly chasing the next thing. And it wore me down. Personally. Physically. In my relationships. I stopped taking care of myself, and it showed.
But I’ve learned that the only way out of that cycle is to come back to the basics: health, wellness, clarity.
Therapy helped me. Not because I was falling apart, but because I needed a space to actually unpack what I was carrying. To stop the noise and make sense of the stress. There’s a huge stigma for men, especially in this industry, around asking for help. But let me say it loud: it’s not weakness. It’s maintenance.
Just like we service equipment, we’ve got to service ourselves. And for me, that starts with the tangible things: sleep, diet, exercise. You’d be amazed what three days of clean eating and a walk outside or a workout can do for your mind. You have to take care of yourself to feel good, simple as that.

The Experience of Entrepreneurship
If I could tell my younger self one thing, it’d be this: It’s all an experience. And how you show up in that experience, how you learn, grow, and keep your integrity intact, is what makes or breaks your story.
Entrepreneurship is not a straight line. You’re going to feel like a rockstar one month and a failure the next. You’re going to make mistakes. People might leave. Things will break. You’ll face forks in the road where you’re not sure if it’s going up or downhill. I’ve been there.
But the only constant that matters is: who are you becoming through it all? That’s the story you’ll live with. That’s the business culture you’ll create. So stay focused on where you want to go, build from a place of honesty, and don’t forget that you matter in the equation too.

What I Want Other Leaders to Know
If you’re reading this and you’re leading a business, or trying to build one, hear this: it’s not supposed to be easy. But it’s not supposed to cost you your soul either.
Be consistent. Be real. Stay focused on the people in front of you. And when the stress comes, meet it with presence, not panic.
At Solution Services, we run hard, but we don’t run alone. We lead with respect. We take care of our teams. And we never forget that every successful project starts with a healthy person who takes care of themselves showing up to do the work.
Take care of your people. And start with yourself.
